Old Dominion University shooting leaves 1 person dead, 2 injured; gunman also dead

One person was killed and two others are injured following a shooting Thursday morning at Old Dominion University, and the gunman is dead.

The shooter opened fire at approximately 10:49 a.m. in Constant Hall, the Norfolk, Virginia, university said in an emergency alert.

ODU Police Chief Garrett Shelton said two victims were taken to the hospital and appear to be in stable condition. A third victim took themselves to the hospital, he said at a news conference.

“One of the victims is deceased. And we’re working on getting in touch with the family at this point,” he said.

The victims have not been identified. Two of them are members of the school’s ROTC program, NBC affiliate WAVY of Portsmouth, Virginia, reported.
