Smile 2 is coming to digital platforms this week, just one month after the movie opened in theaters. Such is the new norm in this post-pandemic, post-streaming wars world.
Written and directed by Parker Finn, who also wrote and directed 2022’s Smile, this sequel to the popular horror movie stars Naomi Scott as a fictional pop star named Skye Riley, who is gearing up to go on tour. But you know what can really ruin a world tour? A mysterious evil entity that possesses people and forces them to smile while they kill themselves. Though it’s mostly a new cast, Kyle Gallner reprised his role from the first film, as a police officer named Joel.
Like the first film, Smile 2 was a box office success, earning over $131 million at the worldwide box office. No doubt, Paramount hopes to make an additional chunk of change with the “premium” video-on-demand
