EXCLUSIVE: Spain-based production company AF Films has announced it is partnering with The Housemaid producer on action-driven feature film Chopper.
The real-time thriller revolves around a haunted veteran helicopter pilot, scraping by on Caribbean charter flights, whose aircraft is seized by hijackers. He is forced at gunpoint into a mission to pull off a daring prison break. As the operation collapses into violence and betrayal his only way out is to keep flying.
Luis Gerard wrote the screenplay and will direct the thriller, which is scheduled shoot in 2027, with filming locations in the Canary Islands and mainland Spain. Casting is underway.
Chopper marks the Puerto Rican, New York-based director’s first feature after several award-winning shorts including The Wake, and a successful commercials career working with brands such as Volkswagen, Nike, Mercedes, Bud Light, Ikea, McDonalds, Chrysler and Axe.
