‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Renewed For Season 2 At Paramount+

Brand new series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has been renewed for Season 2 at Paramount+ while Season 1 is still in production.

The early renewal was announced by executive producer, co-showrunner, director and franchise boss Alex Kurtzman on a livestream from the show’s Toronto set during the Star Trek universe panel at New York Comic-Con on Saturday.

It was also revealed that Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) has been cast as a recurring special guest star in Season 1. Her character’s description was kept under wraps however.

Kurtzman was joined on the livestream by Starfleet cast members Sandro Rosta, Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané and Zoë Steiner. Paul Giamatti, Holly Hunter and Oded Fehr also star in the series, but were not on the livestream.
