
Illumination/Nintendo/Universal’s Super Mario Galaxy Movie will continue to have a gravitational pull on moviegoers in its second go-round with $60M-$70M, between a -47% to -54% ease from its $131.7M 3-day haul. The Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Glen Powell, etc ensemble will keep all its Imax and PLF screens.
Remember, 2023’s Super Mario Bros ranks as the second-best weekend ever for an animated movie with $92.3M behind 2024’s Inside Out 2 which did $101.2M. However, Galaxy Movie is expected to be a bit more front-loaded given that it has very good, not platinum word-of-mouth (62% definite recommend to first pic’s fantastic 82%). However, Super Mario Bros did defy expectations in its second frame.
Super Mario Galaxy Movie made $14.8M yesterday, far and away the best Tuesday so far in 2026, ahead of Project Hail Mary‘s $9.4M (March 24), but it was also the third best Tuesday in April after Avengers:
