Tara and I found the movie that inspired this list in the dumbest possible way… it was late, we wanted a movie, and we only had one rule: it had to be about an hour and a half long. That’s how we landed on “Apex,” and I’m so glad we did. It’s tense, brutal, and exactly the kind of lean thriller I’m always hoping to stumble into. Now, some of these are funnier than “Apex,” some of these are nastier, but all of them have a strong hook, real tension, and enough going on to keep you locked in.
