‘The Menendez Brothers’: Netflix’s Upcoming Documentary Will See Erik And Lyle Menendez “Revisit” Their Trial “In Their Own Words”

Thanks to Netflix, the world will have the opportunity to hear from convicted murderers Erik and Lyle Menendez for the first time in 30 years.

On Monday, the streamer released the official trailer for The Menendez Brothers, an upcoming documentary in which the two brothers who infamously murdered their parents in 1989 will, “in their own words… revisit the trial that shocked the nation,” per Netflix’s synopsis.

“Everyone we asks why we killed our parents,” Lyle says in an audio recording from prison. “Maybe now people can understand the truth.”

Outside of audio interviews with both Erik and Lyle from the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility — where they are both serving life sentences — the doc will also include interviews with their cousin Diane Vander Molen and prosecutor Pamela Bozanich. Others featured in the Alejandro Hartmann-directed documentary are journalists who covered the case and lawyers involved in the trial,
