EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video has opted not to renew The Sticky for a second season. The news comes more than two months after the six-episode first season of the Canadian comedy, starring Margo Martindale, Chris Diamantopoulos and Guillaume Cyr and guest starring Jamie Lee Curts, was released on Dec. 6.
Like another recently canceled Prime Video freshman comedy series, The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, The Sticky could not break through and draw wide enough audience despite solid reviews (80% on Rotten Tomatoes). Comedies take longer than dramas to, um, stick, which could explain why streamers are doing fewer half-hour shows and why those shows have a generally higher cancellation rate after a single season.
