TikTok to Resume Local Sponsorships After Deal to Stay in Canada

TikTok in Canada has reached a settlement with the federal government to continue operating north of the U.S. border.

And the big winners of the deal are likely to be major Canadian cultural events like the Toronto Film Festival and the Junos after their TikTok sponsorship was pulled ahead of a threatened shutdown of the local operations for the fast-growing social video platform. TikTok Canada’s agreement with the federal government in Ottawa will keep its local operations in place, and likely restore jobs stemming from past sponsorships of domestic events.
