Tim McGraw Exits Netflix Bull Riding Drama Series Due To Surgery

Tim McGraw has stepped away from headlining Netflix‘s upcoming rodeo drama series. Initially announced during Netflix’s upfront presentation in May, McGraw had been attached to both star in and executive produce the untitled project.

According to Deadline, a source close to McGraw says the actor and musician is recovering from orthopedic surgery on both knees, performed in August following a tour-related injury. Now, with a new back surgery on the horizon requiring significant recovery time, McGraw has decided to step back from the physically demanding role.

The series, set in the high-stakes world of bull riding, revolves around a champion rider (originally played by McGraw) at a life-changing crossroads. His world is turned upside down by a fearless young competitor who challenges his beliefs and uncovers buried secrets, forcing him to confront his past.
