What the New Netflix Price Hike Means for Your Subscription

Netflix has raised subscription prices again.

Customers who live in the US, Canada, Argentina and Portugal will pay more to watch Netflix, the media giant shared ahead of its fourth-quarter earnings call on Tuesday. In a letter to shareholders, the streamer said it’s rolling out price increases effective Jan. 28, and pointed to its growing slate of programming and investing in improvements to the service as factors behind the decision. The company last raised prices in October 2023.

Additionally, the streamer added a new extra member option that’s ad-based, so if you choose to share your account with someone outside of your household, they can stream with ads for $7 a month. The fee for extra members who stream ad-free remains $8 a month.
