Thanks to Netflix, a whole new set of streamers have joined the Yellowjackets hive. The first season of Paramount+ on Showtime’s immensely popular mystery drama recently dropped on the platform, and fans are predictably obsessed.
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, the buzzy series originally debuted on Showtime in November 2021 and became an instant hit. Starring Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Tawny Cypress, and Lauren Ambrose, the nine-episode second season premiered in March 2023, with a third installment on the way.
Yellowjackets centers on the aftermath of a plane crash involving a high school girls’ soccer team. The twisty thriller toggles between the immediate aftermath of the crash and the present day as the survivors cope with the fallout from the accident and try to answer a medley of mysterious questions.
