The more things change, the more they stay the same. The last USA Network edition of SmackDown aired in September 2019. We were on the heels of KofiMania as popular WWE veteran Kofi Kingston, who defeated Daniel Bryan to become WWE Champion at WrestleMania 35, was the top guy on the blue brand.
A few weeks later, SmackDown moved to FOX and Brock Lesnar defeated Kofi in 8 seconds to unceremoniously end his championship reign.
We still haven’t forgiven FOX for this travesty.
Last night, SmackDown returned to USA. The network will air both SmackDown and Monday Night Raw until the WWE’s flagship series moves to Netflix on January 6, 2025.
