WWE heads to Netflix, starting with tonight’s Raw

The WWE, and all of its content, is coming to Netflix’s streaming platform. The drama and storylines of WWE play out across multiple shows: Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and then live events like Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. Previously, these shows were on cable or the WWE subscription service, which could be restrictive. WWE being available as part of the standard Netflix fee makes the hobby much more accessible.

There are some regional wrinkles that make the deal a little more complicated, however. For instance, American Netflix users will not be able to watch Smackdown, NXT, and live events, which just leaves them with access to Raw, the weekly flagship show. Each show maintains separate rosters; for instance, NXT is used as a “feeder league” for up and coming talent. Raw is also a three-hour event, which leads to more story, promos, and interviews interspersed throughout the matches.
