Ads in Apple Maps are now official, and they’re coming this summer

Apple has officially confirmed that ads are coming to Apple Maps, with a rollout planned for the US and Canada starting this summer. This marks a pretty significant shift for Apple, which has long positioned itself as a more privacy-focused alternative to ad-heavy platforms like Google.

What will ads in Apple Maps look like?

Thankfully (or depending on who you ask), they won’t be full-blown pop-ups. Instead, ads will appear in search results and suggested places, where businesses can pay to show up at the top when users search for things like restaurants, cafes, or stores.
