
The BBC and MGM+’s Legacy of Spies adaptation has found its Bill Haydon.
Dan Stevens will take on the role of the enigmatic spymaster and has been joined in the buzzy John le Carré adaptation by All Quiet on the Western Front lead Felix Kammerer and Agnes O’Casey (Black Doves), who takes on the key role of Liz Gold. Kammerer will play Hans-Dieter Mundt alongside Volker Bruch, Saskia Rosendahl, Patrick Güldenberg, Safia Oakley-Green, Jake Dunn and Ariyon Bakare.
Cameras have rolled on Legacy of Spies, a big-budget adaptation based on 1963’s The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and the 2017 novel A Legacy of Spies, which itself is a prequel and sequel to The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The adaptation marks the high-profile return to TV of le Carré’s famous Cold War era spy George Smiley.
