EXCLUSIVE: Noel Braham, founder of the Micheaux Film Festival, has announced the development of The Oscar Micheaux Institute, a nonprofit initiative to aid individuals facing economic barriers in their pursuit of careers in film, television, and media.

Organizers said the Institute will focus on workforce training, mentorship, and career pipeline programs that connect emerging talent with opportunities across the entertainment industry.

“The Oscar Micheaux Institute is about creating real pathways,” said Braham. “Talent is everywhere, but access is not. This is about closing that gap and building long-term opportunity.”

Organizers are aiming for a 2028 launch in Los Angeles. Initial efforts will include pilot programming, strategic partnerships, and early-stage workforce initiatives.
