These days, all Pixel phones are guaranteed to get seven years of updates, covering both Android upgrades and security patches. However, not every Pixel device was so lucky. Case in point: the Pixel Tablet, launched in 2023, was originally only slated for three years of updates. If that felt a bit stingy, you weren’t alone.

A Grim Outlook—Until Now

Initially, Google’s latest Android tablet was set to hit its “end-of-life” date in June 2026. That deadline was coming up fast, meaning owners risked missing out on new features or, worse, critical security updates. Sure, the device wouldn’t suddenly stop working, but no new features—and the prospect of looming security vulnerabilities—doesn’t exactly scream peace of mind.
