
Your dream of cruising the streets with PlayStation-inspired controls has hit a roadblock. Back in January, Sony Honda Mobility, a joint project between electronics giant Sony and carmaker Honda, showed off prototypes of its Afeela electric vehicles.
Now, the company says its two EV vehicles will not move forward.
The move is a surprise, given the company’s January announcement that, in addition to the Afeela 1 sedan, which was to be manufactured in the US, it was working on an SUV concept that would arrive in 2028.
In a statement, Sony Honda Mobility said that “as a result of Honda’s reassessment of its automobile electrification strategy announced on March 12, 2026, SHM will not be able to utilize certain technologies and assets that were originally planned to be provided by Honda at the time of SHM’s initial business planning.”
Honda’s change of plans included other cancellations of EVs in the pipeline.
