‘Spaceballs’ Star Bill Pullman To Make Royal Shakespeare Company Debut In ‘The Cherry Orchard’ With Kenneth Branagh & Helen Hunt – Breaking Baz

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Spaceballs star Bill Pullman will make his Royal Shakespeare Company debut, joining the already-announced Kenneth Branagh and Helen Hunt in a new adaptation of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard penned by Laura Wade, a playwright who’s also an EP and writer on Disney+ hit series Rivals.

The Independence Day actor Pullman praised ‘the great joy of language” in Wade’s version, which will be directed by the RSC’s co-artistic director Tamara Harvey.

He will take the part of Gaev, the brother of Hunt’s Madame Ranyevskaya, the impoverished aristocrat who returns to the estate where the endangered cherry trees are located. Branagh will play Lopakhin, the former serf whose family once worked the land that he now owns. The production is set to run at the RSC’s intimate Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from July 10-August 29.
