Tony Awards Lifetime Achievement Honors Announced

Andre Bishop, artistic director of Lincoln Center Theater from 1992 to 2025; pioneering Broadway lighting designer Jules Fisher; and playwright, director and frequent Stephen Sondheim collaborator James Lapine will be this year’s recipients of the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.

The three join previous recipients that include Sondheim, Harvey Fierstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Carol Channing, John Kander, Angela Lansbury, and Terrence McNally, among others.

Nominations for the 79th Tony Awards will be announced this Tuesday, May 5, with the ceremony taking place June 7 at Radio City Music Hall. Pink hosts the awards show, which will be broadcast live to both coasts on CBS, streaming on Paramount+, 8-11 p.m. ET/5-8 p.m. PT.
