Aubrey Plaza and Joe Wengert may have just unlocked a new form of couple’s therapy.
While stopping by The View on Thursday with John Waters and Amy Sedaris to discuss their new Prime Video series, Kevin, Plaza explained that the adult animated comedy is inspired by a cat she shared with Wengert, who she used to date—and who she also co-created the show with.
“It was really weird,” she admitted of pitching the series with Wengert. “Joe Wengert, Dan Murphy, and I created the show. And yes, Joe and I, a long, long, long time, ago, we lived in Queens, which is where the show’s set. We actually had two cats, Kevin and Howard. We adopted them from, like, a mob family.”
Plaza said that pitching the project was a “full-circle, crazy moment,” noting that she was only 19 years old when she met Wengert.
